Bequest

Remember Legacy In Your Will

Legacy is reliant on contributions from the community, of which bequests are a significant part, in order for it to carry out its vital work. After having carefully considered your family and friends in your Will, making a bequest to Legacy ensures that you leave a lasting legacy which will continue to make a difference well into the future and ensures that you will be well remembered.

You can leave a bequest to the national entity (Legacy Australia Council) for the benefit of all Clubs. Or you may leave a bequest to the local Legacy Club in your area.

Please click here for a list of Legacy Club names and ACN / ABN's.

If you would like more information about making your Will or leaving a bequest to Legacy, or if you need assistance in finding a solicitor in your area, please contact your local Legacy Club.

As a guide, Legacy recommends the following wording for general bequests:

'I give the whole/residue* of my estate to <insert Legacy Club name and ACN or ABN> for its general purposes, (or specific purposes).'

*Delete which ever is inapplicable

Dad was 42 years old when he died. His death was cardiac related due to acquiring Rheumatic Fever when stationed in Canada with the RAAF during WWII.

Dad’s passing made my Mum, Joan Mc Donald, a widow at 36 years of age. She was left to raise 3 children on her own in Sydney, away from her family who lived in Newcastle. I was 8, Frances 7 and Gregory 3 years. Only 6 months previously Greg was diagnosed as being deaf. It must have been an extremely difficult time for Mum but to her credit and our good fortune she raised us teaching us wisdom and love. We all love her dearly – daughters, son, sons-in-law, & grandchildren and 4 great grandsons.
OR

'I give sum of/percentage* (the actual amount should be written in words and in numbers) to <insert Legacy Club name and ACN or ABN> for its general purposes, (or specific purposes).

*Delete which ever is inapplicable

to be utilised for general purposes of such fund and the receipt of any one of the Directors for the time being of such fund shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees.'

Mum didn’t avail herself of all the assistance Legacy could have provided but always knew they were there if she needed them. One occasion she did ask for Legacy’s help to buy her home – she still lives there – over 50 years later. We also enjoyed the social side of Tuesday night Legacy.

Mum is eternally grateful for Legacy’s involvement in our lives and had no hesitation including a bequest to Legacy in her Will.

Thank you Legacy and may God bless you always.
