|Legacy WA is very proud to be one of four charities benefiting from the Big Aussie Barbecue, expected to attract 90,000 people on the last day of the Queen’s visit to Perth as part of this month’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).|
|The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will ‘share a snag’ on Perth’s foreshore as part of the largest public participation event in WA’s history. Over 600 volunteers will man 120 barbecue stations, serving sausages and drinks for gold coin donations. The three-hour event starting at 9am on Saturday 29th October is expected to net at least $250,000 for four charities – Activ Foundation, Clontarf Foundation, Red Cross and Legacy WA.|
"This is a very rare, unique and special opportunity for West Australians to take part in a great Aussie barbecue and to see the Queen and Prince Philip first hand," said WA premier Colin Barnett.
Hundreds of delegates from over 50 countries are attending CHOGM, which the Queen is attending in her capacity as Head of the Commonwealth.
