Volunteers - Legacy

Volunteers

Legacy recognises that not everyone wants to make the commitment required of a Legatee, and welcomes enquiries from those who would support it as a volunteer.

Legacy’s volunteers include the hundreds of school children, cadets and Defence Force personnel who help with fundraising; the many widows who willingly put their hand up to help with mail-outs or the packing of badge trays; and the many, many others who give their time, skills and enthusiasm for no other reason than to help others. Hugh Mackay is one of these.

Hugh has been a volunteer for a number of years, and helps out with the processing of remittance slips and packing of Christmas parcels.

After I retired I still wanted to get out there and do more. I knew Legacy did a great job with veterans’ families and was happy to help in any way that I could. As well as keeping me busy, volunteering with Legacy has enabled me to keep in touch with younger people.
