Legacy is dedicated to caring for the families of deceased and incapacitated veterans. Today Legacy's caring and compassionate service assists around 70,000 widows and 1,900 children and dependants with a disability. Legacy is a voluntary organisation supported by veterans, servicemen and women, and volunteers drawn from all walks of life. Our support and services now extend to include the dependants of members of today's Australian Defence Force who lose their lives as a result of their military service.
2016 will mark 90 years of Ballarat Legacy serving the local community. Several special functions are being organised to help celebrate this milestone
Legacy is dedicated to enhancing the lives and opportunities of our families through innovative and practical programs aimed at:
- the protection of individuals and families basic needs;
- advocating for their entitlements, rights and benefits;
- assisting families through bereavement; and
- helping people thrive, despite their adversity and loss.
Legacy's assistance is aimed at helping families of deceased and incapacitated veterans to live rich and meaningful lives.
Legacy services are provided by our volunteer members (called Legatees). If you share the ideals of Legacy and want to assist in our work, we would welcome a membership enquiry from you.
To maintain Legacy's services we rely heavily on public support. Our principal fundraising activity is the Legacy Week Badge Appeal. The appeal will be held from 25 August to 3 September 2016.
Ballarat Legacy Club wishes to thank all the patriotically minded Ballarat citizens for their support during Legacy Week 2015.
We have selling sites at all major shopping locations and also at the local townships within our area.
We also thank the local Primary and Secondary schools that participate during Legacy Week.
