Plain English Speaking Award - Queensland 2010

The Plain English Speaking Award (PESA) is an annual competition for senior secondary students in Australia and the Asia Pacific nations. It is intended to encourage the development of oral communication skills and better understanding among young people.
The Award began in Victoria in 1977, as part of the celebrations of the twenty-fifth year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. It proved to be so successful that it became an annual event and is now an Australia wide competition.
In 1986, the competition became international, then including Singapore and NewZealand. The competition now includes fifteen nations from the Asia Pacific region- Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Fiji, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and the Solomon Islands.
The Plain English Speaking Award is a highly prestigious competition and is Australia’s premier public speaking event for senior secondary students.
