Cairns Legacy Club received its Legacy Charter on 22 June 1933, however this record of the history of the Club does not begin until 19 years later. A fire in 1963 destroyed the Cairns RSL premises (which also housed the Cairns Legacy office) and with it the Club's records. Attempts to regain copies of valuable records have proven difficult. Cairns Legacy would welcome members of the community who may hold relevant historical information to come forward to help restore some of this history.

Cairns Legacy operated from the Cairns RSL from 1963 until July 2008. Due to planned renovations of the RSL, Cairns Legacy relocated to Legacy Lodges caretaker’s unit (No 2/25), Rowe Street, Earlville, Cairns. When the RSL renovations are complete, we will again occupy premises in the RSL Club.
