|The inaugural meeting of the Legacy Club of Mackay was held on March 1st 1947. The foundation members were H.P.Rasmussen, J.Condie, R.Taylor, T.G.Mulherin, O.N.McLardy, G.Gow, H.Bolton and F.S. Williams.|
H.P.Rasmussen was elected president and F.S.Williams secretary James Condie was president for 1948/50 and his son David Condie, president in 1962/63 and 1971/72. David Condie also served for more than 20 years as secretary.
T.G.Mulherin, James Condie, David Condie and later presidents, A.F.Abbott and B.C.Badger, also served terms as Mackay District R.S.L president.
|Mackay Legacy has an active membership of 32 legatees.|
The club cares for 554 widows, three school children and four adult disabled dependants.
|Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, commencing at 9.00am in the Recreation Hall, War Memorial Homes, Creal Street, Mackay.|
|The Mackay Club’s district extends from Proserpine in the North to St.Lawrence and west to include the mining communities of Moranbah and Dysart.|
