Widows' Clubs
One of the most effective forms of helping cope with difficulties faced by ladies widowed as a result of military service is peer support from others in a similar situation. Brisbane Legacy's 43 Laurel Clubs and Care Groups help provide this support through organised meetings, social activities and outings, as well as the learning of new skills in a variety of art and craft activities.
Children's Camps
Legacy provides assistance to the children of its 'family' by providing an 'Advisor' to each family and with financial assistance for the children's education. Supplementing their formal education, Legacy provides a programme of Adventure Camps to contribute to the personal development of the children. Run twice yearly, in the Christmas and mid-year school holidays, the camps focus on activities such as high ropes courses, abseiling, trekking, canoeing and horse riding to provide challenging and enjoyable recreation that helps develop social interaction, confidence, teamwork and self-reliance in the children.
