Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award 2007

Adelaide successfully hosted the National Final of the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award over the weekend of 10 -12 November 2007. This is the first time Adelaide Legacy has hosted the contest since the national competition began in 1995.

Monday morning 12 November saw 10 young contestants (two each from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria , Tasmania and South Australia), compete in front of an appreciative audience at the Hilton Adelaide for the Perpetual Trophy and the 2007 winners title.

Lucy Lee from Brisbane Girl’s Grammar School was announced as the winner, with James Monaghan from Sydney Grammar runner up and Tom McNamara from Launceston Church Grammar School, in third place.
 
80th Anniversary  of Adelaide Legacy

Adelaide Legacy will have its 80th Birthday on 14th February 2008. To mark the occasion a series of events are planned during 2008 commencing with a variety concert and lunch for Legacy Widows at the Adelaide Town Hall on Thursday 28th February 2008.

In September, a special weekend is planned for members( Legatees) and their spouses during which the new President for the ensuing year will be installed.
 
President of Adelaide Legacy

Legatee Paul Clancy was installed as President of the Legacy Club of Adelaide Inc. on 15th September 2007.

Born in the Riverland and educated at Renmark High School, Paul worked in the then State Bank of SA until called up for two years National Service which included service in South Vietnam.

Post National Service he pursued a career in banking later moving to journalism and private business . Currently he and his wife are actively involved in the Barossa wine community.

Paul’s association with Legacy commenced as a 10 year old following the death of his ex-serviceman father  when Legacy assisted his family.
