Warrnambool Legacy

Warrnambool Legacy - Legacy

Legacy is dedicated to caring for the families of deceased and incapacitated veterans. Today Legacy's caring and compassionate service assists around 65,000 widow(er)s and 1,800 children and dependants with a disability. Legacy is a voluntary organisation supported by veterans, servicemen and women, and volunteers drawn from all walks of life. Our support and services now extend to include the dependants of members of today's Australian Defence Force who lose their lives as a result of their military service.

Legacy is dedicated to enhancing the lives and opportunities of our families through innovative and practical programs aimed at:
  • the protection of individuals and families basic needs;
  • advocating for their entitlements, rights and benefits;
  • assisting families through bereavement; and
  • helping people thrive, despite their adversity and loss.

Legacy Services

Legacy's assistance is aimed at helping families of deceased veterans to live rich and meaningful lives.

Legacy Members

Legacy services are provided by our volunteer members (called Legatees). If you share the ideals of Legacy and want to assist in our work, we would welcome a membership enquiry from you.

Legacy Support

To maintain Legacy's services we rely heavily on public support. Our principal fundraising activity is the Legacy Week Badge Appeal. The appeal is to be held from 27 August to 2 September 2017.

LEGACY
The work conducted by Legacy is well known for its support of widows and dependants of servicemen who have given their lives or health on operational service or subsequently.
The Legacy Charter defines our charitable purposes as: The care of dependants of those who served their country; namely, veterans who gave their lives or health on operational service or subsequently, and Australian Defence Force members who die in service or as a result of their service, affords a field for service.
The area covered by the Warrnambool Legacy Club extends to Port Fairy, Macarthur, Hawkesdale, Caramut, Mortlake, Lismore, Camperdown, Cobden, Timboon and Princetown.
There are 58 Legatees in the Warrnambool Legacy club who look after over 320 widows of WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan together with children and handicapped persons.
As we receive no government funding we make one direct approach to the public each year, which is in the form of endowments and badge selling. We can only carry on the work of Legacy with the financial support from people like yourselves, and are grateful for any assistance.

Warrnambool Legacy thanks the wonderful Australian public for their generous support of the 2017 Legacy Week Badge Appeal.

We also thank the many, many volunteers who help make the week such a success.
