Armidale Legacy was initially a contact Group of Sydney Legacy with its first meeting on 5th June 1945.
Within one year, seventeen widows and forty six children were enrolled under the guidance of twenty Legatees.
By June 1948, Armidale Legacy became inaugurated as a stand-alone club with an area from the Queensland border in the north to south near Bendemeer, covering Tenterfield, Glen Innes, Guyra, Uralla and Walcha.
| Legacy House was built in the late fifties to cater for activities of the large numbers of children enrolled. This foresight and community input has ensured that Legacy has both a home and a permanent street frontage in the community.
Legacy House continues to be used by Legatees, widows, ex-service organisations and other community groups.
