JULY IPSWICH INFORMER NEWSLETTER
| LEGACY CLUB OF IPSWICH INC.|
We are now at the half way mark 2013, less than 6 months to Christmas which means even less time to our Xmas party. As everyone would or should know by now the Annual General Meeting of Ipswich Legacy was held last month and a list of our new executive committee is listed below.
President: Geof Kleinig
Vice President: Heather Dainer
Secretary: Andrew Reggett
Treasurer: Peter Sutton
Sergeant at Arms: Geoff Whittet
Leah has returned to us from her travels in Egypt and deepest darkest Africa, we will try and get her to put some photos on our face book page. Legatee Heather Dainer and Legatee Peter Sutton are on their way to Townsville for the Queensland Legacy ‘get together’ for the weekend of the 26 July.
What is Legacy Week?
Legacy Week - Australia’s iconic fundraising campaign since 1942. It is also known for its Badge Day and the iconic badges offered as a token of appreciation for the donation made by the public.
Legacy Week is the annual national appeal to raise awareness and funds for the families of our deceased Veterans. It is held in towns and cities big and small across Australia and supported by young and old.
The funds raised from Legacy Week help Ipswich Legacy continue to assist over 600 plus widows and 7 children and people with disabilities.
Ipswich Legacy along with Legacy Australia extends its deepest sympathy to the family, friends, and colleagues of Corporal Cameron Stewart Baird, MG, killed on operations in Afghanistan on 22 June 2013.
Corporal Baird is the 40th member of the Australian Defence Force to die in the war-torn country since 2002. Two Australian soldiers have also been wounded and are being treated in Kandahar and Tarin Kowt.
Legacy Australia Chairman, Charles Wright said “Legacy’s thoughts are with the family of this soldier and his mates, and we stand ready to support his family during this difficult time.”
TELL US YOUR LEGACY STORY
We want to hear from the people Legacy has touched. Young families, widows, dependants, volunteers and fundraisers we want this information to try and put together a booklet on Ipswich Legacy History.
Legacy Australia has released our official emblem to celebrate our 90th Anniversary
We would like to commence issuing everyone with a Photo Id if you could please contact Leah to make an appropriate time to have this completed. We request that all Legatees wear their blue Legacy shirts for the photo shoot (for an extra fee we can do other photos for you)
As stated before the upgrade of our office, which includes a full review of our business practices, forms and public relations materials is still going forward. We cannot give an expected finishing date as it a secondary item to our daily duties.
