Gwynn Boyd

Gwynn was born in Sydney and educated at Sydney Grammar School and the Royal Military College, Duntroon. His 15 years of Army service included active service in South Vietnam and long-term schooling in the USA, as well as many happy years in Sydney and in far north Queensland.

Leaving the Army in 1978, Gwynn spent ten years on the marketing side of the computer and telecommunications industries at IBM Australia, Plessey Australia, and Thorn EMI.

Moving to investment banking in 1987, Gwynn then spent thirteen years in the industry, principally working for the Pittsburgh National Bank and ABN AMRO Australia.

A passionate sailor for most of his life, Gwynn very nearly went into the Navy. He prefers his boats to be good looking and sails each Saturday on a friend’s exceptionally fine-looking sailing vessel.

Gwynn joined Sydney Legacy in 1990 and has been Chairman of the Marketing Committee twice, and a Board member three times. He was Chairman of the Legacy Foundation for five years. Prior to his Sydney Legacy experience, he was a member of Townsville Legacy in 1976-77.

Gwynn was appointed to the Board of Legacy Australia in November 2024 and now serves on the Governance Committee as Chair, and on the National Marketing Committee.

Gwynn has been married to Camilla for 52 years. They have two sons, one daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren.
