Mal was elected to the Legacy Australia Board in 2022 as the Rural Queensland Representative and appointed Secretary in 2023. Prior to this, he served as President of the Far North Queensland Legacy Club from 2020 to 2025.
In 2023 Mal was appointed to the Governance Committee, the Future Committee and the Advocacy Committee.
He brings a wealth of community services experience having been engaged in managing various community sector agencies for over 30 years, including Community Development, Alcohol and Drug Recovery, Homelessness and more recently Executive Officer/Secretary of the Cairns RSL Subbranch. He is passionate about all Ex-Service Organisations forming strong collaborative partnerships because, ‘We All Work Better Together’.
He is looking forward to working with the other Board Directors of the Legacy Australia Board in moving the organization forward in the next steps in its evolution, building upon the past 100 years to ensure that it continues in its ongoing mission of ‘Supporting Our Veterans’ Families.
