Legacy’s Trek to Remember Gallipoli 2025
Legacy is excited to share that we are embarking on a ‘Trek to Remember’ of Gallipoli & Turkey’s Lycian Way this November to raise funds for veterans’ families – and we ...
The Legacy flame has visited Coffs Harbour, Armidale and Tamworth as part of the Legacy Centenary Torch Relay.
The Coffs Harbour relay started at Diggers Beach Road. The Torch travelled a 10km route before concluding at the Ex-Services Memorial.
It was an honour to have Victoria Cross recipient Mark Donaldson as our final torch bearer. As a former Legacy beneficiary, we would like to thank Mark for his continued support.
Next up was Armidale. The relay started at the University of New England and travelled a 6km route before concluding at Armidale Legacy Club with the lighting of the cauldron.
The Torch then made its way Tamworth. On the afternoon prior to the relay a pool of reflection ceremony was held where 1000 crosses laden with poppies were displayed to commemorate the sacrifice of veterans.
Our torch bearers did not let the weather dampen their spirits on relay day as they carried the torch from Hyman Park through St Edwards War Memorial Bell Tower, the WWII Memorial, and the Light Horse Memorial before concluding at the Tamworth Memorial Town Hall.
In true Tamworth style, Tamworth Legacy hosted a Legacy Centenary Concert after the relay. The concert featured The Tamworth Choral Society, The Gunnedah Shire Band and the official launch of the Legacy song ‘The promise’ by Wendy Wood.
Thank you to all of our wonderful torch bearers for making each relay so special.
