Sydney Legacy is proud to announce its participation in an event that has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Centenarians.
Hosted by My Guardian at NSW Parliament House, the event brought together 150 Centenarians to celebrate their long lives and enduring legacies.
Sydney Legacy was honoured to have 36 of its widows and a widower, along with their support people, in attendance. Each participant will receive an official certificate acknowledging their role in the world record.
“Today’s lunch was a beautiful tribute to the lives and experiences of so many Centenarians, including our own,” said Legatee Julie Bowden, Sydney Legacy representative. “We are proud to stand alongside other community organisations and feature in this record-breaking celebration.”
Each of our widows and widower carries a unique story marked by courage, sacrifice and resilience. It was moving to see their lives honoured in this historic gathering.
Sydney Legacy has been working closely with My Guardian since June 2025 to bring this event to life.
As we celebrated 100 years of individual lives today, Sydney Legacy also looks ahead to its own centenary in 2026, marking a century of service to the families of veterans.
