
David Grant began his Royal Australian Navy career in 1964 as an Engineering Apprentice at HMAS Nirimba. He served at sea on HMAS Melbourne, Sydney, and Queenborough, and later in the submarine service aboard Oxley, Ovens, Otway, and Onslow. After training at HMS Dolphin, he was stationed at HMAS Platypus until 1984.
Following his transition to the active reserve, David continued as a Quality Control Officer at HMAS Platypus and later worked with DMO Canberra on the Collins Class Submarine program. He concluded his naval service as Divisional Officer at the Flying School Tamworth, retiring in 2015.
Beyond defence, David formerly served as Principal Director of the Lincoln Red Cattle Society Australia Ltd. He has held leadership roles across community organisations, including President of Lions Bundarra.
A member of Inverell Legacy since 2014, he has served in various board positions, including Vice President, and is currently a Legacy Foundation (NSW) Director, representing Armidale, Inverell, and Tamworth.
David was appointed to the Board of Legacy Australia in 2021 and now serves on the Governance Committee and on the Finance Audit and Risk Management Committee.
