Sydney Legacy Participates in Guinness World Record Honouring Centenarians
Sydney Legacy is proud to announce its participation in an event that has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Centenarians.
On Thursday 22 May, Legacy Brisbane and Sydney Legacy joined forces for Legacy Giving Day, raising more than $460,000 for veterans’ families.
From 8am to 8pm, all donations made by the community were matched by a generous fund of matched givers, consisting of corporate, individual and private donors. All of the funds raised on the day will support the Legacy clubs in the city where they were donated, providing financial, social and emotional support.
The Giving Day rallied the whole Legacy community together in a wonderful day of compassion and camaraderie. Staff and volunteers made hundreds of calls throughout the day.
General Sir Peter Cosgrove, AK, CVO, MC, a long-time supporter of Legacy, joined us on the day from the Brisbane office. He made personal phone calls to thank some of our matching partners.
Both clubs exceeded their individual targets: Legacy Brisbane raised $310,589, exceeding the goal of $300,000. Sydney Legacy raised $153,699, setting out with a goal of $150,000.
Thank you, once again, to all the generous matched givers, who, without their support, the day would not have been possible:
Harris Farm Markets | Suttons | Freight Movement | Maronite Catholic Society of Australia | Guardian Funerals (InvoCare) | Anticlockwise | Parachute Digital | Walkerscott | Lumia Care | Jericho Australia | Rheinmetall Group | And our individual and private donors
To everyone who donated, volunteered or shared the word with their friends, thank you for keeping the Promise and supporting the families of our veterans.
