Sydney Legacy Participates in Guinness World Record Honouring Centenarians
Sydney Legacy is proud to announce its participation in an event that has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Centenarians.
War Widows & Death Compensation Workshop October 2025
On the 15 – 16 October 2025, Legacy hosted a two-day War Widows & Death Compensation Training Workshop at the historic Alstonville RSL Sub-Branch Hall.
The workshop, attended by Legatees and staff from Far North Coast, Brisbane and Ipswich Legacy Clubs, provided an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully and holistically work with the family of a veteran who has died.
Participants left with a deeper understanding of Commonwealth legislation relevant to veteran death compensation, information on the harmonisation of the legislation that comes into effect on the 1 July 2026, along with the ability to confidently complete Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and other government forms.
A key focus was the importance of linking a veteran’s death to their service – a critical step in securing entitlements for surviving family members.
Information was also provided about Legacy and its services.
The workshop was delivered by Legacy Advocacy Team members Ms Cathy Every and Mrs Christina Crombie, who have more than 40 years of combined experience representing the families of deceased veterans.
Legacy’s advocacy services are part of its ongoing commitment to upholding the wellbeing of families affected by military service.
As leaders in the ex-service organisation community, Legacy has years of expertise in understanding the individual needs and entitlements of widow/ers, children and dependants with disabilities whose veteran loved one has given their life or health.
Legacy will continue to advocate for the families of veterans and engage with the wider community to do so.
