Tamworth Legacy to Launch Veterans Week at Rugby Park

TAMWORTH LEGACY TO LAUNCH VETERANS WEEK AT RUGBY PARK

Tamworth Legacy is proud to announce Tamworth’s Veterans and Families Day, a community event to honour and support our local veterans and their families. Launching veterans week, the event will take place on Saturday, 18 October 2025 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Tamworth Rugby Park, marking the official launch of Tamworth Veterans Week. 

This special day is endorsed by General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK AC (Mil) CVO MC (Retd), former Governor-General of Australia and one of Australia’s most respected military leaders. The day aims to bring together serving members, ex-serving personnel, their families, and the wider community in a spirit of recognition, connection and support. 

Event highlights include: 

• Ex-service organisation stalls – Learn about the wide range of services and support available to veterans and their families from ex-service organisations such as Partners of Veterans, Legacy and RSL NSW. 

• Care and Service Providers – Agencies that provide Department of Veterans Affairs based and other services will be present to provide help and information. 

• Live music & entertainment – Games for the kids and enjoy performances from local artists and entertainers throughout the day. 

• Food & drink – Free BBQ, drinks, coffee and options for the children. 

“We want every veteran and their family to know they are supported, valued and never alone,” said Tamworth Legacy President, Greg Roese. “Tamworth and the surrounding region have a proud history of men and women serving in the Australian Defence Forces. But we also know that many defence families who move to country areas like ours often struggle to find and access the services they need. It’s not always the veteran who seeks help. Often, it’s a partner, a parent, or a relative trying to navigate a complex system. That’s why we’re encouraging not just veterans but their families to come along. This day is for all of them.”
