Legacy Brisbane’s CEO, Brendan Cox, has received The Paul Tys Churchill Fellowship to create a model of care for families supporting a veteran suffering psychological and/or physical injury. Brendan Cox will be travelling overseas to bring back vital research, networks and skills alongside collaborative partners RSL Queensland, Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation, Mates 4 Mates and Open Arms.

Brendan Cox will investigate international best practice in providing holistic support to Defence families supporting a veteran with physical and psychological injuries as a result of their Defence service. He will also evaluate international programs that support Defence families as they navigate complex social and medical support systems particularly associated with veterans that leave the service ‘unwillingly’ due to their conditions. The project involves visiting countries where there are established For Purpose agencies engaged in veteran and family support after the veteran has left their military service environment.

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was established in 1965 to honour the memory of Sir Winston Churchill, who led Britain during WWII. The Trust fulfils his wish for people from all walks of life to travel the world to gain new knowledge and share ideas and insights.
