Gold Coast Legacy

Gold Coast Legacy was formed in 1949 and is a unique and iconic Australian charity organisation with little government funding.

The Spirit of Legacy is service and as an organisation, Legacy strives to ensure that programs and support are contemporary and needs based, as no two families are the same. Legacy families and dependants are treated with compassion, understanding and empathy.

We care for the widows and children, including adult children living with permanent disability of our Veterans who lost their lives or health during wartime or have since passed, including those who served in Peace Keeping or in any of our Defence Services; Army, Navy or Air Force.

We assist in many ways, for example, financial hardship, advocating for entitlements, social isolation, helping families to thrive despite their loss, assisting with children’s education from pre-school through to the University.

Legacy Week is our one main annual fund raiser and is held in late August/early  September and ALL donations received go directly to out local Legacy widows and their children. We are also fortunate to have been the recipient of some very generous bequests.

Gold Coast Legacy currently supports approximately 850 widows, children and families, all of whom are part of a family that has been touched by a loved one’s service to our country.

Our dedicated volunteers are committed to helping families through difficult times. These amazing individuals provide the tools and support needed to build a brighter future for those who we care for and support.
